For yet another year, Miguel and Gracia Burdeos, President and CEO of #SPBglobal, attended the Rei Jaume I Awards ceremony, which recognises the talent and vocation of professionals in the scientific and business fields.
In this, the thirty-fifth edition, the president and general director were also jurors in two different categories: Miguel Burdeos in the Entrepreneurship category and Gracia Burdeos in the New Technologies category. The juries are made up of leading professionals from all over the world in the field of research and business, including more than sixty Nobel Prize winners.
This year 2023, the six prize-winners were: Alfonso Jiménez Rodríguez-Vila, in the Entrepreneur category, Daniel Maspoch Comamala, in New Technologies, Carlota Escutia Dotti, in Environmental Protection, Guillermina López Bendito, in Medical Research, Olympia Bover Hidiroglu, in Economics, and Antonio M. Echavarren Pablos, in Basic Research.
The ceremony, which took place last Tuesday at the Lonja de la Seda in Valencia, was presided over by His Majesty King Felipe VI. Also in attendance were the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, the mayoress of Valencia, María José Catalá, and other personalities from the world of business and civil society.
For #SPBglobal it is a source of pride and honour to be part of these awards which, on the one hand, recognise the talent of researchers and entrepreneurs who are so committed to society and which, on the other, as Felipe VI stated in his speech, “are the mirror and engine of talent, inspiration and motivation for our young people”.
Second year without Santiago Grisolía
This edition was the second to be held without the presence of Santiago Grisolía, founder of the Rei Jaume I Awards in 1989. The researcher passed away at the age of 99 in August 2022.
